One of my favorite days from our Japan trip was spent exploring Miyajima Island, just a short trip from Hiroshima.
We were lucky to have a beautiful clear day with amazing weather. We spent the day wandering around Miyajima, taking in the traditional streets, views of the island, and the deer that roam freely around the area. We also stopped for some amazing local oysters, which were definitely one of the highlights of the day.
Miyajima is probably best known for Itsukushima Shrine and its famous floating torii gate, but I really enjoyed simply walking around and taking in the island at a slower pace. There was plenty to see without feeling like we had to rush from one place to another.
If you're visiting Hiroshima, I’d highly recommend making the trip to Miyajima. It’s an easy day trip and a great way to experience a different side of Japan.
